and the list goes on. You are only limited by your imagination. If you have an online business, you probably will already have a website. If you are looking for an online business, then you will need a website

  1. Sell your own Videos.
    1. Make your own videos about cooking, sewing, woodwork, teaching, self-development or any subject that you chose to and sell them online on a site like Vimeo On Demand
  2. Earn from ads placed in your videos.
    1. Place videos on sites like YouTube and earn money from Ads. This takes time as you need to have a certain number of views before they allow you to place ads on your channel.

    1. There are companies that will allow you to sell your videos on a royalty basis as they do with photos. Companies like:

Choose One

The type of video that you are going to produce will determine where and how you will market it and what equipment you will Google Chrome Logoneed. For example, If you specialise in wildlife videos, you will need more specialised equipment than the Blogger that makes a video on how to use “Google Chrome“.

If you are a Blogger then you might not even need any equipment, if you are going to make videos based on your post and PowerPoint Presentations with voice-overs.

Before you even consider buying equipment, if you do not have it already, you need to decide on what type of videos you will be making, what quality lighting and sound you will require and what type of video equipment you will need. Do this before buying on impulse. Online Shops love impulse buyers.

What You Need

As I stated earlier, in most cases you will need a website. Now, if you don’t have one, don’t panic. you can get a free hosted website and training. See what I recommend here. It is truly free and comes with training on how to build your website and some tools. It is truly possible for you to build a website with no experience.

In Most cases, you will already have most of the equipment that you need, to make videos for your website, blogs and how to videos at home, if you have a laptop. Laptops have Cameras and Microphones built in and they usually produce videos of acceptable quality, if you do not need to be on your feet and moving around.

You will also need to address the lighting issue. You will need a bright but soft light from behind the camera. A light that has some white tissue paper over it to soften the light works. If you rely on the ceiling light or sunlight from a window, you will probably get shadow on your subject and this might not make for a decent video.

If you are sitting at your desk with your laptop, you will probably get away with your built-in microphone. If you are outside, near traffic or other people or noise in the background you will probably need to buy a mic with a long lead or a wireless mic.

JAY Promoting Your YouTube Videos

Watch this video on Producing, recording and uploading YouTube videos to get detailed advice on the subject.

Choose The Subject Of Your Video

When making your video, it is best to have a bullet point script so that you can stay on topic. Digressing will make your Video longer than anticipated and your viewers might get bored and move on to another site, and you don’t want that.

Determine the subject of your video, research it and make a bullet point script. If you have researched the subject, you will be familiar enough to make use of a bullet point script. The script can always have important details, such as dates and numbers, included.

Consistency

As with any business, consistency is vital. You cannot add video on a hit or miss basis. You must plan your articles and your videos in advance and have a time table that you keep to. If your visitors/viewers expect you to upload a post or video every Friday, make sure it happens on time or they will soon unsubscribe from your video channel or Blog.

You know how much time you have in a week, to work on your business. You need to schedule when you are going to research your next post, when you will write it and when it will be posted. Then you also need to plan for the video. Once you have your schedule, stick to it. Consistency is the key to your success.

YouTube

I am a YouTube fan and I upload my videos to YouTube. As your channel grows, so to will your followers and you will Socializeeventually be able to add Ads to monetise your Channel. When you embed your videos in your articles, it registers on your YouTube channel as a visit every time someone Views a video from your website.

Socialise

No, I don’t mean a Braai (barbecue for those none South Africans) and Dop ( Drinks). I mean posting articles and ads on sites like Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter etc. How else are people going to learn about your video and your site? You need to Promote your video and that will bring viewers and visitors to your site. Here is another incredible video training on Promoting Your YouTube videos.

Conclusion

Online business is not a myth. Yes, there are con artists out there but there are plenty of legitimate ways to start an online business and I have found a way to do it where you do not need a credit card at all. It is absolutely free and plenty of people use it to earn an income. It is in fact, how I started and I can vouch for it. No, I do not get paid to vouch for it. I found it after years of searching and I have made money online using this system. It is the only time I made money so, yes, I vouch for it.

This was a really useful article that will certainly help me to start producing some videos for my blog. I am a newbie to the blog scene and I am looking at beginning to make some youtube videos (those stats you wrote about blew my brain away – wow!) to embed in my posts. Your thoughts on lighting was a particularly interesting idea that I have noted for future reference. Thanks for posting.

In today’s modern world making video has never been easier and there are multiple ways to make money from the videos that you produce. Preparation is the key to making good videos, so its a good idea to have a prepared script otherwise you could end up rambling on too long. Nowadays people want to be told how to do this or how to do that by watching videos on places like YouTube, the problem is if your video doesn’t grab them in the first 30 seconds they may go elsewhere to find what they are looking for. A good headline is important, something to grab their attention for example “you have to read this” or another headline could be “10 good reasons to eat turmeric” you get the idea.! i think that it is important to keep the video under 3 minutes if possible, use high quality graphics you can do the voiceover upload it and don’t forget to use at least 10 tags that will tell Google and YouTube what your video is about. You need to get found!

Hi Fintan, Thanks for the visit and for the outstanding tips that you added. I have far too often moved from a video that “loses the plot” halfway through. Staying on topic is a must and keeping the video short and interesting enough to keep the viewer to the end is equally important.

I  favour using high-quality images and voice over as I personally do not enjoy being in front of the camera, but that is a personal choice.

Being found is a must and Tags are signboards for Google and YouTube.

    Good afternoon Bryan,

I enjoyed reading your life story on your About Byan page. Punishing kids does not help, showing them new ways does.

The title of your post was eye-catching, so I was curious to read how one makes money with Video Online. Impressive numbers you state about YouTube. Interesting to read you can sell your videos just like you do with photos.

I understand making a script is very much recommended, short and to the point. With all this information one day I might perhaps dare to make a video myself.

    Regards, Taetske

Hi Taetske, Thanks for visiting my site. I am glad you found something of interest here.

Perhaps and one day are anchors that really weigh you down. As long as you have those two variables in the equation, I fear that you will never get started.

Decide to do it and set a start date. No vague “When I have the Time” or any other such reasons for not trying. You can do it, you just need to get out of the comfort zone. It probably won’t be perfect but then, no “firsts” really are.

Have faith in yourself and, as Nike say, Just “Do It”.
