In this post, I will show you how to get more traffic to your website for free. Well, not exactly free, It costs you effort. Nothing is for free right? :-).
There are two ways to do it:
- With paid advertising or
- With SEO, Search Engine Optimisation.
In both instances, keywords are an important part of the equation and you need to get the research right! For this, you need a Keyword Ranking Tool and the best keyword ranking tool (in my mind) is Jaaxy. You can test Jaaxy below.
Where To Start?
Stating the obvious :-), the first thing you need is a site to send traffic to. If you don’t have one yet but are in the research stage, you can get a free website, hosting and free training here.
Search engines rank your pages in order of relevance to the search term ( keywords entered into the search box by the visitor), and quality of content. Now, remember that there is a difference between ranking your page and listing your page. A search engine might list your page quite quickly but where is your page on the list of millions of articles on that search engine? That is the article’s rank. How high is it on the list?
These lists are divided into pages to be displayed to the SE clients in batches of about 10 to a page. The aim of SEO then is to get your article ranked as high as possible in an attempt to get it displayed as the 1st entry on the 1st page. This is where the art of organic SEO comes into play.
Remember that the SE results pages are divided into three. The top and bottom part of the pages list the “Paid” listings. Those are the pages of the people who pay to have their pages placed in those positions. The others are organic listings, i.e. those pages who have the best keywords and content that are relevant to the particular search term.
You need to decide if you are going to pay to have your page displayed or are you going to create quality content and have it displayed for free? Paying to have your page in position 1, on page 1 of a search engine can be costly. To a lot of people, this is not an option, and this is not a problem. You can still have your article ranked in position 1 on page 1 of a search engine in the organic rankings, and this is excellent.
To be successful at ranking your page, you will need to select a keyword tool. There is no such thing as the best free keyword tool in my experience. The only free keyword tool I have found has been the keyword tool that is provided as one of the many outstanding tools by Wealthy Affiliates, to all their Free and Premium Members.
Be this as it may, you will need a Keyword Tool to show you what the competition is like for your keyword.
Google – A Great Keyword Research Tool
So, where do you get keyword ideas? Do you just think of what you want to write about and select a keyword? Using a keyword tool is the easy part. You type in the word and then you hit enter, right? Wrong! There is much more to selecting the correct keyword.
If you want your page to rank well, you need to do a little more research. The idea is to find a keyword that is searched for frequently but does not have too much competition i.e. not too many competition sites using that keyword. The keyword also needs to be one that is trending. To find out what is trending, you can go to Google.
If you want it to be an internationally trending word, go to Google.com. If you are doing local marketing, go to your local Google page, e.g. Google.com.au. In the address bar, type in your idea for a blog post, e.g. Dog parlor in Sydney. As you start typing, you will notice a drop-down list of suggested words. These are words that people are searching. Keyword Density refers to the number of times your keyword appears in your post. In the past, it was common practice to insert the keyword often. This is now an old practice. As search engines have evolved, they have become very good at recognising what you are writing about. Now if you have your keyword in to often, you may be penalized. It is best to just place it in your article name and once at the beginning of the first paragraph. Oh yes, make sure that it is in your URL, your Meta Title and your Meta description. If you try to take a shortcut, you will quite possibly end up with a post that never gets any visits. This would be an absolute waste of time, after all, you need traffic to get sales don’t you? So why not spend those few extra minutes to do proper research on the post and have a post that gets traffic?
Less Speed more quality content. That is what gets your page ranked and draws traffic to your site, and that is why you read this post isn’t it? So how do I research you ask? Well. that is a training on its own and is best done by the Wealthy Affiliates expert trainers here, where you will learn to post to Google+, Fetch as Google and submit your site map to rank your page within 21 minutes.
I have left you clues to follow to see the type of training you can get to develop your online business on the platform I use. Click here to read more about it.
